Diversity Program

The PCCTSDP is committed to the principles of diversity in academic pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric trauma surgery. Limited funding is available for candidates from a diverse background who have an early interest in pediatric critical care or pediatric trauma surgery to participate in the annual retreat held in Deer Valley, Utah (November 1 – 4, 2018). Applications are open to all fellows in PCCM or pediatric surgery who meet these criteria. It is not a requirement to have a fully developed project or a faculty mentor. Retreat participants will be allowed to view the application process, and will benefit from exposure to the National Advisory Committee of the PCCTSDP. Further, these fellows will undergo a focused development session, led by senior PCCTSDP faculty, exploring and expanding research ideas. We anticipate three to five positions will be awarded to diverse PCCM or pediatric surgery fellows to fund the cost of attending this year’s retreat, including transportation, hotel and dining expenses. An application to the retreat may be downloaded below. Submission deadline is October 1, 2018. Applications should be submitted electronically by email directly to Dr. Heather Keenan, the PCCTSDP program director, at the University of Utah at heather.keenan@hsc.utah.edu.
